Khali Best stars in The Force: The Michael Watson Story

Khali Best has been cast in the upcoming feature film The Force: The Michael Watson Story, taking on the role of legendary American boxer Gerald McClellan.

The biopic, directed by Sean Cronin and written by Matthew Bazell, chronicles the life of British boxing icon Michael Watson. It focuses on the pivotal events surrounding his career, including the infamous 1991 WBO super-middleweight title fight against Chris Eubank at White Hart Lane, and Watson’s remarkable recovery and resilience in the years that followed.

Khali Best joins a strong ensemble that includes Victor Hugo as Michael Watson, Michael Gukas as Chris Eubank, Mohammed George as Nigel Benn, and Nick Moran as promoter Barry Hearn. The production also features portrayals of other boxing figures such as Frank Bruno, Don King and Muhammad Ali. The film is produced by Magnificent Films in partnership with Matchroom.

Filming has wrapped, with key sequences, including a recreation of the historic White Hart Lane bout, shot at Longcross Studios. Michael Watson himself made a guest appearance during production.

Khali Best, known for his work in EastEnders, Blue Story, Top Boy and The Book of Clarence, continues to build an impressive screen career. His casting as Gerald McClellan adds further depth to a project that aims to honour one of British boxing’s most inspirational stories.
