Jamal’s House
Wow! What a legacy that has been left behind by Jamal Edwards.
Soho House hasn’t thrown their annual festival for a while due to Covid, and their first one over the weekend paid tribute, and was in memory of the late Jamal Edwards.
Jamal was a universally loved and pivotal member of the UK music scene, a cultural visionary who was also a member of Soho House’s Under 27 Committee and a central member of the Soho House advisory board. So it was fitting that the likes of WSTRN, DJ EZ, Fatboy Slim, Bastille, DJ Trevor Nelson and Jessie J – who gave a moving speech during her incredible set about how Jamal would call her out of the blue to encourage and motivate her – would show up at the request of his mother, Brenda.
In the meetings we had with him, his energy and drive were simply infectious, he loved what he did, but more importantly, he loved to help people. Everyone that has spoken about Jamal before and since his passing has said the exact same thing.
He truly was one of the good guys, a special person; a unique human. Keep resting in power King!
