Eric Abrefa Returns as Andre in Netflix’s Supacell Season 2

Production on the second season of Netflix’s critically acclaimed superhero drama Supacell has wrapped, and Eric reprises his role as Andre Simpson. Creator and showrunner Rapman (Andrew Onwubolu) confirms that filming is complete after unavoidable delays and the series is now in the edit.

Supacell premiered on Netflix on 27 June 2024 and quickly stood out for its grounded, South London-set take on the superhero genre. Created, written and co-directed by Rapman, the series follows a group of ordinary Black Londoners who unexpectedly develop extraordinary abilities linked to a mutation of sickle cell disease. Themes of community, systemic pressure, family and resistance run through the show, which earned strong critical praise (including a perfect score from early Rotten Tomatoes critics).

Eric stars as Andre Simpson, a financially struggling single father whose super strength emerges amid everyday hardship. Andre’s arc in Season 1 is one of the series’ emotional cores: a man navigating the long shadow of a past conviction, the demands of parenthood, and the sudden, dangerous power that both offers opportunity and invites exploitation by a shadowy organisation. His performance brought depth and quiet intensity to a character defined by resilience under pressure.

The core ensemble returns for Season 2, including Tosin Cole (Michael), Nadine Mills (Sabrina), Calvin Demba (Rodney) and Josh Tedeku (Tazer), alongside other series regulars. New cast members have also joined the production. Filming took place in the UK; the series is currently in post-production, with a release window most widely anticipated in 2027.
